CRAFT: Cow Masks!

I got the idea for this week’s storytime craft from Pinterest (duh!) but the adorable creation actually comes from the blog, Kindergarten Rocks! As per the usual, I created a quick set of templates and had my interns prep the craft by tracing and cutting out materials. Then I had them paperclip everything together to facilitate distribution and assembly. Popsicle sticks, googly eyes and shredded green paper were also provided. Parents and children alike adored this cute craft and there was a LOT of mooing to be heard around the library following storytime.
REVIEW:
This was a fun and exciting storytime session. My storytime munchkins were enthralled by What the Ladybug Heard and had a blast guessing animals during the reading of I Spy on the Farm. Likewise, this week’s set of extension activities went over really well. Make a Pig was hugely successful, and the kids lost their minds while I tormented them by adding incorrect piece by incorrect piece…screaming and giggling all the while. I owe a big thanks to Sharon from Rain Makes Applesauce as a result. If you’re short on time like I tend to me use clip-art and a laminating machine to create your pieces instead of using felt.
