YA Crafts: Paper Calaveras!

I was happily surprised my small group of tweens enjoyed this week’s craft. They know what Dia de los Muertos is, and were excited by the opportunity to create their own paper calaveras (skull). I created a basic, skull-shaped template, then traced the essential components onto watercolor paper (i.e. the skull outline featuring holes for the eyes, nose and mouth). I lined the maker stations with examples of sugar skulls and markers, and the kids did the rest. The tissue paper flowers were cheap and easy to make. If you’re interested in making a few of your own watch this Youtube video by Hillside Artistians.
