Children’s Program: Puppets

Three Little Pigs and Big Bad Wolf Puppets

For this Monthly Children’s Program, I decided to set up maker stations where parents, caregivers and children could create puppets to promote phonological awareness and narrative skill at home. For this particular craft event, I chose a Three Little Pigs and Big Bad Wolf theme. I used thin cardboard to create a set of templates, and then traced everything and commenced cutting.  Handheld circular hole punches were used to create the pig’s snouts, and the wolf’s nose. The inspiration for the Big Bad Wolf came from a similar paper bag puppet I saw on Pinterest that was created by the Early Literacy Mama. I passed out a simple rhyme sheet based off lyrics by Nick Hall located on the Nursery Tracks website.

Overall, the program went well and I had a total of 38 children and caregivers who attended. Some parents went so far as to request similar puppet making programs.
