CRAFT: Paper Bag Monkey Puppet!

Monkey Paper Bag Puppets

This week’s storytime craft was inspired by an adorable prototype I discovered via Pinterest, but comes from the website: Chinmaya Mission Tri-State Center. I made a few modifications, and created templates. Then, I used those templates to trace all of the pieces on cream and brown colored cardstock. Lately, I’ve been paper-clipping craft pieces into sets in order to make distribution easier. Black markers and googly eyes were provided. My storytime attendees had a blast playing with their monkey puppets, and someone burgled my sample.

REVIEW:

Be Quiet, Mike! was a big hit. I loved the book so much I ordered a copy for my niece AND my library’s storytelling collection. Kiki’s Blankie is a sweet read and the children enjoyed her antics. I love the adorable illustrations, and Kiki’s empathy invoking features. Unfortunately, my munchkins developed a case of the wiggles throughout Monkey and Me but I don’t blame the story. Something must have been in the water. The extension rhymes went over well. I took a chance and repeated Five Monkeys Swinging in the Tree from the previous week. Once again, the children were spellbound by my alligator hand puppet the action rhyme.
