B is for Bear.
She rides her bike to the beach,
Her beach ball bow wow ounces way out of reach.
Because its her birthday she buys some balloons,
She ties them to a boat by some big brown baboons.
The wind blows her hat with some bright flowers on it,
The bear jumps way back, there are bees in her bonnet.

CRAFT: Letter B Bat!

I wasn’t thrilled with the majority of Letter “B” crafts I found online. So I decided to draw a small letter “b” and add the necessary features to create a bat. I scanned the finished product, and printed multiple copies which were pre-cut prior to storytime. I used colored construction paper to create the oval shaped background (all of which were precut prior to storytime and outlined with black permanent marker). The preschoolers did an excellent job coloring their craft using crayons and markers. They seem to have a bit more trouble using glue sticks, so their instructor, teacher’s assistant and I had to scurry around the room to help them glue down their bats.
REVIEW
This is the 4th time I’ve performed storytime at GBL2 for the preschoolers from the child development center. Four weeks in an I still enjoy conducting storytime for these kids—they are incredibly well-behaved and enthusiastic. They really enjoyed Banana and Baby Bird. Unfortunately, some kids had trouble staying focused during Bat Jamboree so I was forced to redirect their attention by asking questions throughout the last half of the story.
